Grey Cup odds
There was a big shake up on the Grey Cup odds at Bodog.ca this week as for the first time this season the Montreal Alouettes are not the favorite to win the Grey Cup.
So, who overtook the Alouettes to take over top spot on the CFL futures at Bodog.ca? That would be the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at 7/2 and they currently own the best record in the league. Not only are the Bombers the top team in the CFL right now they also own the No. 1 defense and lead the league in sacks. A big portion of those sacks have come from Odell Willis who leads the league with 10. Often-injured QB Buck Pierce remains a concern for Winnipeg because he still can't stay healthy, but as long as the defense continues to pull their weight the Bombers could remain the favorite for a while.
Not only have the Alouettes lost their familiar status as Grey Cup favorites at Bodog.ca, but they share second place n the odds with the Calgary Stampeders at 4/1. Montreal may have won the last two Grey Cups, but they're time in the sun may be ending. Montreal has lost four of their last five games and the oddsmakers have taken notice, dropping them down the odds list. Veteran Anthony Calvillo is still one of the top quarterbacks in the league and he's put up some big numbers with Jamel Richardson this season so the Als and they No. 1 ranked offense may be worth a couple bucks at 4/1.
The Stampeders may have lost two of their last three games, but they're still tied with Edmonton for first place in the West. Calgary's has an explosive offense led by Henry Burris and Joffery Reynolds but their defense has ranked near the bottom of the league and will need to improve if Calgary hopes to add another Grey Cup to their collection.
