NHL Props Betting
With the NHL All-Star game just over a week away they devised a few interesting mid-season NHL props over at Bodog.ca. Here's a rundown of a few of them and how they might turn out.
Will Dion Phaneuf, Phil Kessel and Joffrey Lupul all end up on the same All-Star team in the 2012 NHL All-Star Game?
The oddsmakers likely came up with this one before Zdeno Chara was named the other All-Star captain and it was rumored that they were going to go with a Battle of Ontario with Daniel Alfredsson on one side and Dion Phaneuf on the other. The chances of this happening now seem pretty slim since the Leafs probably aren't near the top of either Alfredsson or Chara's list of favorite teams. We can probably be assured that Chara won't take any Canucks, but will he veto taking any Toronto players as well?
Will the Toronto Maple Leafs acquire James van Riemsdyk during before the 2012 NHL trade deadline?
A trade involving Van Riemsdyk and Leafs' defense man Luke Schenn was making the rounds through the rumor mill until JVR suffered a concussion and became out indefinitely. That doesn't mean a deal is necessarily dead, but unless JVR returns from his concussion before the deadline and shows no ill effects to his game the chances of such a trade being pulled off appear bleak.
Where will Ales Hemsky be playing after the 2012 NHL trade deadline has passed?
Edmonton Oilers
Detroit Red Wings
New York Rangers
Boston Bruins
Philadelphia Flyers
Los Angeles Kings
Field
Everyone expects Hemsky to out of Edmonton before the trade deadline passes. The often-injured 28-year-old winger doesn't seem to fit into the Oilers current rebuilding plan and with his contract expiring at the end of the season it's a no-brainer that the Oilers will look to move him. Maybe the most obvious destination for Hemsky is Los Angeles where the offensively inept Kings could use an offensive spark. Los Angeles is tied for dead last in goals scored in the league right now and with sniper Simon Gagne sidelined indefinitely they need all the help they can get. Other popular landing spots for Hemsky include the Red Wings, the Rangers, the Flyers and the Bruins, but we'd be pretty surprised if he doesn't end up in California.
Will the Phoenix Coyotes trade Shane Doan prior to the 2012 NHL trade deadline?
Shane Doan has been the face of the franchise in Phoenix forever. He's the only players on the Coyotes that was part of team when it made the move from Winnipeg 15 years ago. Doan is a free agent at the end of the season so no matter what happens on the trade market his time in Phoenix could be over. At 35-years of age his career may have only a few years left so if he wants a shot at the Cup he'll likely have to waive his no-movement clause to go to a contender.
