NHL Props Roundup
It's been quite a tumultuous season both on and off the ice in Montreal this year. The Canadiens have let fans down on the ice and management has let down many French fans with their decision making. Could that mean a pink slip for Montreal general manager Pierre Gauthier?
Gauthier has drawn plenty of fire since getting the GM gig last February. Just a few of his questioned moves include signing injured defenseman Andrei Markov to a three-year deal and replacing head coach Jacques Martin with Randy Cunneyworth. Markov's creeky knees haven't allowed him to pay a single game since signing the new deal, while the Cunneyworth appointment has been loathed and chastised because he doesn't speak french. At Bodog.ca the oddsmakers think Gauthier will at least last until next season. On the “Will Pierre Gauthier be the general manager for the Montreal Canadiens for game one of the 2012-2013 season?” prop yes is favored at 1/3, while no is listed at 2/1.
The biggest talk around the NHL right now is regarding the trade deadline. Who's going to go where on February 27, deadline day? The biggest named being thrown around right now is Columbus Blue Jackets' sniper Rick Nash. He's reportedly on the block, but with a no-movement clause in his contract he controls his own fate.
At Bodog.ca they picked their seven favorites teams to lands Nash with the New York Rangers leading the pack at 5/2. The Rangers are running away with the Eastern Conference right now and are considered players for any big name that becomes available. They have some young talent (Chris Kreider and Brandon Dubinsky have been talked about) they could part with, but is it enough to haul in Nash?
Other teams making the cut for Nash according to the Bodog.ca oddsmakers are Boston (5/1), Toronto (11/2), San Jose (6/1), Philadelphia (6/1), Vancouver (7/1) and Los Angeles (7/1). You can also get any other team at 5/1.
Another player that has been rumored to be on the block for months is Toronto defenseman Luke Schenn. The young defenseman was rumored to be headed to Philadelphia for James Van Riemsdyk last month, but the rumor was quickly squashed when JVR suffered a concussion. Despite the old rumors Bodog.ca expects Schenn to stay put in the blue and white with him not being traded favored at 1/3, compared to being traded at 2/1.
