Sportsbooks Release Odds to Win Super Bowl 47
Despite losing to the Giants again in the Super Bowl the New England Patriots remain among the favorites to hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy next year and win Super Bowl XLVII.
At Bet365 they were already calculating the Super Bowl XLVII odds while Rob Gronkowski was drowning his sorrows on the dance floor. On the first Super Bowl XLVII futures at Bet365 the Patriots share the top spot with the Green Bay Packers at +550.
New England should easily have a good enough team to get through the AFC again and return to the Super Bowl with Tom Brady at the helm of an offense that will still include Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez and hopefully Wes Welker if the unrestricted free agent resigns. New England could also improve through the draft his year, where they have a pair of picks in both the first and second round.
The Green Bay Packers were Super Bowl favorites almost all of last season before coming up short in the playoffs. Despite that they were still one of, if not the best team in the league last year and should remain a contender for years with a solid young offense led by MVP Aaron Rodgers. Green Bay scored the most points in the league last year and if they can get their defense to improve slightly they'll be hard for any team to beat.
Following the Packers and Patriots on the Bet365 odds list is the other elite NFL offense, the New Orleans Saints at +800. Is it possible for Drew Brees to have a better season after crushing Dan Marino's single-season passing record? Like the Packers, the Saints could use more from their defense to get them back to the Super Bowl. One thing to remember though is that Super Bowl XLVII is being played in New Orleans and no team has ever won a Super Bowl in their home stadium.
The next three spots in the Super Bowl futures all belong to the AFC with Houston at +1000, Baltimore at +1400 and Pittsburgh also at +1400.
The Texans made the playoffs for the first time in franchise history last season and might have been able to go even further with a healthy Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson. The Ravens were a dropped pass and a missed field goal away from a possible trip to the Super Bowl. Baltimore's defense has a number of aging stars, including Ray Lewis and Ed Reed and they could be a risky pick for bettors. Age could also be catching up with the Steelers defense, not to mention injuries on offense which befell QB Ben Roethlisberger and running back Rashard Mendenhall last season.
